Dr. Julie Stegeman attended undergraduate and veterinary school at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, graduating at the top of her veterinary school class in 1995. She entered private practice in Indiana, providing care to small animals and exotic pets, followed by working as an emergency clinician at a referral hospital in Wisconsin. She went on to complete a 3-year residency in Small Animal Internal Medicine at Michigan State University, including a research project regarding feline thyroid function testing. Upon completion of the residency program, she earned Board certification in Small Animal Internal Medicine in 2003. Dr. Stegeman then spent the next 17 years practicing Internal Medicine in Southern California before moving to Tennessee in 2020. She enjoys the challenge and the art of internal medicine and has special interests in gastrointestinal and endocrine disorders, nutrition, and infectious disease. In addition, Dr. Stegeman is a proud member of the American Association of Feline Practitioners and is an advisory board member for JustFoodForDogs.
Outside of work, Dr. Stegeman enjoys listening to music, hiking, yoga, and spending time with her husband and feline family members. She is looking forward to resuming ballroom dancing soon.
